Used in conjunction with other metals, chrome from AMG is one of the essential ingredients in the manufacture of cobalt and nickel-based superalloys. Superalloys, by design, are extremely resistant to high temperatures, fatigue, creep and corrosion and as such are extensively used in particularly challenging environments such as aircraft engine systems, power generation turbines and undersea pipelines.
Our chrome is manufactured on-site from a chemical reaction between chrome oxide, aluminium powder (sourced from within the AMG Group), reaction boosters and other fluxes.
The make-up of each reaction is determined by the final customer specification and has been refined over many years; however we can tailor-make these chemistries to provide maximum flexibility for adjustments to, or generation of, new customer specifications.
Chrome from AMG is used across a wide variety of market sectors:
- Air foils and other aerospace applications
- Nuclear and other sustainable power generation
- Land turbines
- Oil and gas exploration
- Automotive e.g. turbo-chargers and engine valves
