AMG Chrome is proud to announce the installation of a new thermit Cr production facility located in New Castle, PA fully operational during early 2026. This will be a full-service plant for single-step thermit Cr metal for supply to the US market.
The existing customer base in both the USA and the rest of the world will continue to be supplied from AMG Chrome’s UK facility in Rotherham.
The new plant in New Castle, PA will be solely focused on uplifting capacity to support large end users of single-step standard Cr metal with a genuine US origin.
Given the ongoing uncertainties of the geopolitical climate, AMG is providing a new option to the US Cr market with the security of domestic supply. The location is ideal for our customers with plant-to-plant deliveries only taking 1-2 business days.
AMG Chrome’s Commercial Director, Michael Haw, had this to say about this exciting new project: “After more than 30 years, thermit chrome production returns to the the USA. It is going to be a world-class facility and shows AMG’s support for critical materials and the US economy”.

Q: As AMG’s customer, where will I be getting my product from?
A: The existing customer base in both the USA and the rest of the world will continue to be supported by AMG Chrome’s UK facility. All chrome powders will be supplied from the UK facility. The new US plant will support new customers in the USA who are end users of single-step Cr metal (standard grade).
Q: When will installation of the new thermit Cr production facility be complete?
A: AMG expects the plant to be fully operational during Q1 2026.
Q: How can I set up a plant tour when installation is complete?

Q: What about 2 step degassed HPD Cr Metal?
A: The base chrome will continue to be produced in the UK and second step degassing will take place either in the UK or US as appropriate for customer approvals. The new US plant will not supply the degassing plants.
